Terms of Service

Artho tells you how your spending compares to similar households. It is information, not financial advice, and it can be wrong. Use your own judgement before acting on it.
Your documents stay yours. Do not abuse the service. We can change or discontinue it, and either of us can end this arrangement at any time.
1. Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Holmes AI, Inc. ("Artho", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Artho.
2. Who may use Artho
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. Artho's benchmark data covers United States metropolitan areas; if you are outside that coverage the service will tell you so rather than invent a comparison.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information. Your ZIP code, household size and tenure determine which peer group you are compared against, so wrong inputs produce wrong comparisons.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us promptly at security@artho.ai if you think your account has been compromised.
4. What Artho is, and what it is not
Artho compares your spending against survey-derived benchmarks for households like yours, and suggests where money might be recoverable.
Artho is not a financial adviser, investment adviser, broker, tax adviser, accountant, or lawyer, and using it does not create any such relationship. Answers are generated by an automated system and may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Decisions about your money remain yours. See our Disclosures.
5. Your content
Documents and messages you submit remain yours. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service — to process, store where you have asked us to store, and display your content back to you.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Do not submit anyone else's financial records without their permission.
We do not use your documents or conversations to train third-party AI models.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Break the law, or use Artho to help someone else break it.
- Upload another person's data without authority, or anything you obtained unlawfully.
- Attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
- Scrape, resell, or systematically extract the benchmark data.
- Probe, overload or interfere with the service, or work around its limits.
- Present Artho's output as professional financial advice to others.
7. Bank connections
If you connect a bank account, that connection is handled by Plaid Technologies, Inc. and is read-only. Artho can read transactions. Artho cannot move money. Your banking credentials go to Plaid and are never received or stored by us. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's own terms and privacy policy.
8. Fees
Artho is currently free while in early access. If we introduce paid tiers we will tell you the price before you are charged, and you will not be billed without agreeing first.
9. Availability and changes
Artho is early software. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, and the service may be unavailable at times. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we practically can, but we do not promise uninterrupted service.
10. Ending it
You may stop using Artho and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to. On closure we delete your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Artho is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any benchmark, estimate or projection is accurate or applicable to your circumstances.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither Holmes AI, Inc. nor its officers, employees or suppliers is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost data or lost opportunity, arising from your use of Artho — including any financial decision you make in reliance on it.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Holmes AI, Inc. against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of anyone's rights.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction.
Before filing anything, please email legal@artho.ai. Most problems are faster to fix directly.
15. General
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest stands. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and Disclosures, are the entire agreement between us.
